As an e-commerce fulfilment and direct mailing business, we have been working flat out throughout the COVID-19 crisis to help businesses stay open during lockdown. We have put in place safe working measures, found ways for our team not to have to use public transport and the work environment is sanitised before leaving each night and before we start in the morning.  So, I feel confident we are working safely.

Amidst all of that, there is a nagging doubt at the back of my mind – should we be working?

And then our lovely customer, Fi Douglas, at Bluebellgray (@bluebellgray), sent me an email (and a box of treats for the Team at Commands) that really moved me – her sentiment was clear: by staying open we are keeping other businesses going. We are helping to keep people in work. Here is a little excerpt from Fi’s email:

“I’m not sure I can express in words how grateful I am to you and your staff for keeping your business open. … With you staying open we have a fighting chance of getting through this … you are making such a difference and keeping people in jobs. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”   It was a huge morale boost for the whole Team. The note is pinned to our notice board as a lovely reminder and motivation to keep going.

The next day we received another lovely testimonial from Hayley Bishop at Hygge Gear (@Hyggebands)

“Commands have been absolutely instrumental to the growth of our e-commerce business. It is a pleasure working with you”.

It makes such a difference to know what we do really matters.

Final thoughts

Yes. We are doing the right thing. By adapting how we work we can keep our people safe and keep our doors open. Most importantly we can directly help 100 or so other businesses keep their doors open. It’s a good feeling. If you think we can help your business in any way don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Stay safe all.
